Spelling Bees, Music Man, Latrines, Signs and Peace Corps

IMG_1298Lots has been happening in Kasiisi Project/Kibale Forest Schools Program Schools since the new term began last month.

We have 2 new Peace Corps Volunteers – Airi O’Brien who is working on literacy at Kyanyawara Primary School and David McHolland who is helping us develop the Kasiisi Project Farm.

and Education Peace Corps Volunteer Paul Benz, “Music Man” ,visited 5 schools bringing his music and songs to issues of good citizenship and conservation – many adapted from well known US songs – The Wheels on the Bus, This Little Light of Mine and The Hokey Pokey.

Thanks to funding from the British and Foreign School Society to the Kasiisi Porridge Project,  we are building girl-friendly latrines at Kiamara, Kasenda and Nyabweya primary schools,

Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 16.56.31and we  have big new signs advertising that Kasiisi Primary School is now accepting Boarders. The number of boarders has increased from 8 last term to 44 this term, split approximately 60:40 girls to boys – we are on our way!
