We are excited to share that we have a new Executive Director!

Please join us in welcoming Marcy Doozan, who brings more than 25 years of non-profit leadership experience, including 13 years as Executive Director of one of Indiana’s leading conservation organizations. Throughout her career, Marcy has led mission-driven work in basic needs, education, social services, community development, animal welfare, and conservation—raising millions in public and private support along the way.

For the past five years, she has worked with international NGOs in Thailand and East Africa, advancing animal rescue and rehabilitation, conservation, One Health, youth education, women’s empowerment, and conservation education. Marcy has a proven record of building strong partnerships, securing resources, and achieving ambitious results. We are excited for Marcy to work with us during this next exciting chapter for The Kasiisi Project, as we continue to build on our long-term legacy of success around Kibale National Park in Uganda.

In addition to welcoming Marcy, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Sonya Kahlenberg, who has served as our Interim Executive Director for the past 2.5 years, taking over from Founder, Dr. Elizabeth Ross. Under Sonya’s leadership, The Kasiisi Project strengthened its strategy, systems, and programming, laying a strong foundation for growth and long-term success.

The future is indeed bright for The Kasiisi Project—and we are incredibly grateful to our supporters for standing with us through this period of transition.
