The Kibale Forest Schools Program (KFSP) is the Ugandan arm of the Kasiisi Project, and its role is to strengthen education, health, and conservation outcomes for chimpanzees and other wildlife along with children and communities living around Kibale National Park.

KFSP partners with 16 government primary schools along the forest edge, reaching more than 9,000 children each year. The program improves the quality of education, supports student health and well‑being, and builds a strong conservation ethic among young people who live closest to the park. KFSP’s work includes classroom support, conservation education, student wildlife and health clubs, school‑based and One health initiatives, scholarships, community engagement, reforestation efforts and mobile health clinics—all designed to educate communities on health and conservation, reduce pressures on the park and its wildlife, and cultivate the next generation of Ugandan conservationists.

The KFSP team is entirely Ugandan, many from the local communities. Some of our scholars have joined the KFSP post-graduation and are working in leadership positions at the organization.
